The UKC SPOT Evaluator Guidelines Booklet is the official resource for evaluators of the SPOT program. SPOT—short for Socialized Pet Obedience Test—is an evaluation of a dog’s ability to handle common, everyday situations and the owner’s ability to respond and control their dog with confidence.

This booklet explains the 10 testing stations, evaluation standards, and ranking system (Outstanding, Super, Good, Needs More Practice). It also outlines evaluator responsibilities, handler allowances, and the founding principle behind SPOT: teaching and promoting responsible dog ownership.

The SPOT program is open to all dogs—purebred or mixed breed—and does not require UKC registration. It’s designed for both new and experienced owners, making it an inclusive and educational tool for promoting positive dog behavior in the community.
